Shirley's Sour Cream Pound Cake

3 c sugar
3 c cake flour, sifted together with soda
2 sticks butter
6 eggs, separated
1/4 t soda
8 oz sour cream
1 t vanilla

Beat egg whites with 1 cup sugar, set aside.

Cream 2 cups sugar and butter.

Add flour to butter mixture. Add yolks, vanilla and sour cream.

Fold in egg whites.

Pour into greased and floured pan.  Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.

Do not open oven door for an hour.
